Render PC Installation and Configuration
Hardware
EDID Emulator
The emulator should be connected to the USB-C Hub to get a permanent display source. This is needed due to automatic standby at night. When the display is turned off during perfomance mode, the OS looses a GPU used context and the App crashes. To avoid this an EDID emulator prevents the configuration from loosing the display information.
Config
Without learning the EDID, connect the emulator to the display first, then connect the source. This will simulate the EDID of the backend display.
Usage after disconnect
If the cable has been disconnected for some reason, reconnect it the following way:
Connect the source to the emulator first, then connect the display.
Software
We assume your ROG Flow Render PC comes with preinstalled Software. To make the System predictable in the long run, we uninstall all bloatware.
Uninstall Bloatware

For that we have to: - turn off Bitlocker - create a local account - remove login for local account

Configure AnyDesk (Remotedesktop)
We would like the Render PC to accept remote connections automatically, so that we can use our mobile or desktop to chek, update or deploy our applications. To do so, please do the following:
- Click the burger menu at the top right and go to Settings > Access > Unattended Access
- Click the enable button and create a password, which will be used for acessing the machine.
- Done.
Create Reboot Logic
Use the Task Scheduler to
- Reboot Nightly at 3:00 AM
-
Create a .bat file to start up Touchdesigner. Call it startup.bat and put it in the folder with the main .toe. Use the following script:
TIMEOUT 180 start "" "C:\Program Files\Derivative\TouchDesigner\bin\TouchDesigner.exe" "C:\Users\rs_ri\TD Apps\SimpleWechsler\SimpleWechsler.toe"
-
Use the Task Scheduler to call the startup.bat every time the system logs in. For some reason the Task Scheduler only executes this when the laptop is connected to power. So make sure this is the case.
